The Walls, as the
Missouri Prison was commonly known, was built in 1830 and received inmates the same week as Texans were fighting for independance
at the Alamo.
Among
it's mopst noted guests were Pretty Boy Floyd and future heavyweight champion Sonny Lister. Also listed is James
Earl Ray, who escaptef from the Missouri Pen and went on to murder civil rights leader Martin Luthur King.
Carl Austin Hall and his honey,
Bonnie Heady, kidnapped and murdered a child in the Kansas City area. They were executed here, side by side, in the
Gas Chamber. In 1954, after a huge riot occurred here, Time magazine named it the "Bloodiest 47 acres in America".
The prison was closed for good
in September, 2004. But the spirits of many of it's former inhabitants, perhaps too hardened for Hell
itself, remained and are still wandering the halls of this limestone purgatory. In September
of 2011, Spookstalker went inside with the assistance of Jefferson City Paranormal, to make contact.
